Prof. Ludo Van Den Bosch
Head of VIB Center for Brain & Disease Research, Leuven
Biography
Prof. Van Den Bosch earned his PhD in Physiology from KU Leuven in 1990 and then pursued postdoctoral research in molecular biology and neurodegeneration. In 1996 he co-founded the Laboratory of Neurobiology and later became Assistant Professor at KU Leuven. In 2013 he was promoted to Full Professor in the Department of Neurosciences. Since 2014 he has led a research group at the VIB Center for Brain & Disease Research in Leuven, and in 2017 he became director of the Laboratory of Neurology.
His research focuses on motor neuron diseases such as ALS and on neuropathies such as Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, aiming to understand neuronal degeneration and regeneration. His discoveries in CMT and ALS, published in Nature journals, form the foundation of Augustine Therapeutics.
