Biography

Arefe Nami received her medical degree in Iran before moving to Belgium to pursue her passion for research, particularly in translational medicine and human health. She completed a Master’s in Biomedical Sciences at KU Leuven (summa cum laude), where she optimised genome editing in iPSCs using the PiggyBac system in the lab of Prof. Verfaillie. Following her master’s, she pursued a PhD and postdoctoral research in the same lab, focusing on advancing various genome editing techniques in iPSCs and iPSC-derived mature cells.

During her postdoctoral research, she became increasingly involved in exploring the commercialisation potential of stem cell genome editing services. She has completed MBA training along with several entrepreneurial programmes, equipping her with the skills to establish ReWrite, a CRO specialising in genome editing and iPSC generation services.
